Our Craft / Sustainability

The block printers of Bagru work in open-air workshops, their wooden blocks worn smooth by decades of use. Each block is hand-carved, one for every colour in a design. The printer presses it into natural dye, then stamps it onto cotton with a rhythm that only years of practice can perfect.

ACHALAURA's fabrics are printed this way. Each piece bears the subtle variations of a human hand, a signature no machine can replicate.

The Kantha embroidery that quilts our jackets comes from the villages of West Bengal, where women have stitched these running stitches into fabric for generations. Our artisans work with us through fair-trade cooperatives, ensuring their craft is valued and their livelihoods secure.

When you wear ACHALAURA, you are wearing the work of these hands. And you are helping preserve their craft for the next generation.
